Dear Parents,
As we begin a new school year, we are pleased that you choose to entrust your
child(ren}'s education to St. Anthony School. We hope everyone has a positive experience here. There will be work, but also play. Our school moto is work, pray, study, play.
St. Anthony's is more than an elementary school preparing students for their secondary education; we produce young adults, academically, spiritually, morally and ethically, ready to survive in the real world. At St. Anthony's, we foster a well-rounded education centered around Catholic beliefs, values and traditions. Academically, our students are well-prepared to meet many challenges; most of our graduates exercise the study skills they have learned with us and go on to place in the top ten percent of their high school graduating class. We strive to produce students who are Life Long Learners, Critical Thinkers, Effective Communicators, as well as Responsible Citizens and Active Catholics. Students who are prepared to become responsible citizens and who continue to be active in their faith.
We employ a qualified and dedicated faculty and staff which provides each student with the tools needed to become successful in his/her educational experience. Our curriculum is current and addresses both the Diocesan Curriculum Guidelines and the California State Frameworks/Common Core Standards. St Anthony's houses a large library filled with many books and resources for student enrichment. We utilize the Renaissance Accelerated Reading program and Renaissance STAR Assessment program for math and reading. In this age of technology, we have one-to-one iPads for the younger grades and chromebooks for 3rd grade and up. While the technology enhances the curriculum, we still use books, paper, pens and pencils, and we still teach cursive handwriting. Our students have the opportunity to participate in cross country, track and field, volleyball, basketball, flag football, soccer, softball, and baseball at various grade levels. Students may also join choir and participate in dramatic performances.
St. Anthony is fully accredited by both the Western Catholic Educators Association and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
Each day begins with a flag salute, prayer, and announcements as a student body led by our Student Council officers, in our quad area. Throughout the day, there are many more opportunities for classroom prayer. We follow the liturgical calendar, and monthly, we celebrate a first Friday and first Sunday Mass where our students can fully participate in our Catholic tradition.
Sincerely,
Marianne Flynn
